The week of October 12th is the annual celebration of veterinary technicians known as “National Veterinary Technician Week.” This year’s theme—“Paths to Success: Shining a Light on Credentialed Veterinary Technician Stars”—recognizes the many routes to professional growth within this vital career. Today’s blogpost will highlight the pathways beyond providing nursing care available for technician success at AMC.

World Mental Health Day is October 10th each year. This year’s theme—Community: Supporting Mental Wellbeing Together—is relevant to any pet family, who is keenly aware of the comfort and strength in the bonds we share with our animal companions. In today’s blogpost, I will talk about the community that exists between humans and their animals, and the role veterinary professionals play in supporting mental health of their clients and colleagues.

Veterinary medicine is a team sport that requires collaboration between different types of veterinarians working in different types of facilities to provide optimal care for your favorite fur person. Each type of facility plays a distinct role in your pet’s healthcare journey. Today’s blogpost will highlight three common types of veterinary hospitals and how they work together to ensure comprehensive care.

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center’s tripartitie mission centers on providing compassionate and collaborative care to animals and leading the advancement of veterinary medicine through innovative clinical research and education. This mission defines AMC’s purpose and directs our work to effect positive changes in veterinary care.

Each year on July 22, the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center celebrates American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accredited Hospital Day. We celebrate because we have been an AAHA certified hospital since 1976 and a certified referral hospital since 2023. AAHA is an industry leader that originally set the standards for small animal hospitals in North America but now has certified hospitals in Japan, South Korea, China, the West Indies and Guam.
