About Your Visit
Located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is open 24/7/365 for the care of dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Construction is now underway to expand and renovate our 83,000+ square foot hospital. Please review the information below to ensure a successful visit. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we look forward to improving our hospital building for you.
Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment time.
Directions and Parking
Due to renovations and changes in protocol, please allow extra time for travel and check-in to ensure your appointment begins on time.
The service road between AMC and the FDR Drive will close as needed on weekdays between 7 AM and 3:30 PM for construction, during which time cars turning onto 62nd St. will be routed directly onto the FDR Drive. Please plan accordingly.
The AMC parking lot is currently closed due to renovations. Other nearby parking facilities include:
- City Parking | 501 E. 61st Street | 61st between York Ave. and the FDR
- City Parking | 425 E. 61st Street | 61st between York Ave. and 1st Ave.
- LAZ Parking | 1113 York Avenue | York between 60th St. and 61st St.
- SP+ Parking | 420 E. 63rd Street | 63rd St. between York and 1st Ave.
Reserving a spot in advance is recommended to ensure you’re able to make it to your appointment on time.
Building Access
- Before you arrive, please make sure your phone is charged and your phone’s alerts are on so your pet’s care team can reach you
- Masks are recommended but not required
- Due to capacity limitations during construction:
- Only one client per patient will be admitted 6am–6pm, Monday to Friday; and 8am–4pm on Saturday and Sunday
- Two clients per patient will be permitted all other times
- Exceptions include:
- Euthanasia (2 clients per patient)
- Clients with young children
- Clients with disabilities
- Emergency and Critical Care clients should proceed directly to the 2nd floor to check in

Medical Records
Before your appointment, have your veterinarian(s) send medical records to AMC so we can best treat your pet and facilitate an efficient diagnostic plan. Please send records by email to client.services@amcny.org or fax to (212) 752-2592.
At every visit, please be sure we have the current contact information for both you and your referring veterinarian.

Let us handle the paperwork for you! As a courtesy to our clients, we will submit your insurance claim and supporting documents to your carrier on your behalf.

Filling and Refilling Prescriptions
- Please allow 72 hours to process prescriptions, pet food, and medicine shipment.
- No walk in service is available.
- For all refills: Call 212-329-8760 or email your request to our dispensary at dispensaryrefills@amcny.org. Please include your pet’s name, your phone number, and the name of the prescribed medication in any email or voicemail.
- AMC doctors must prescribe all medications and food filled at AMC’s dispensary.
- A paper prescription is needed to fill a controlled substance at an outside pharmacy.
Medication Delivery
We encourage clients to utilize our prescription delivery service for medications. Prescriptions will be delivered in 24-48 hours for a flat fee of $25. Please let your medical team know if you are interested in prescription delivery.
Cancellation Policy
The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center requires a three-day notice for cancellations. Failure to comply will require advanced payment for any rescheduled appointment.

Personal Belongings
AMC is not responsible for personal belongings such as carriers, beds, leashes, or any personal items for your pets. If your pet is admitted, please take these items with you. AMC cannot store these items for you.
