Schwarzman Animal Medical Center Expands Internal Medicine and Emergency & Critical Care Services

Eileen Seage, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM) and Alejandro Mendez, DVM Join as Senior Veterinarians

The Stephen & Christine Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC), the largest non-profit animal hospital in the world, today announced the expansion of its Internal Medicine and Emergency & Critical Care Services with the appointments of Eileen Seage, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM), and Alejandro Mendez, DVM as Senior Veterinarians.

Dr. Eileen Seage previously worked as a Clinician, Small Animal Internal Medicine, at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn, NY, and as a Clinician, Small Animal Internal Medicine, at Blue Pearl Hospital in Rockville, MD. Dr. Seage earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, completed a Rotating Internship at Animal Health Center Mississippi State University, and a Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Seage has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles.

Dr. Alejandro Mendez previously served as Staff Veterinarian at the only 24/7 emergency animal hospital in Puerto Rico, managing a large and diverse patient caseload. Dr. Mendez completed a Rotating Internship at Schwarzman AMC and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.

“I’m excited to be back and take on the role of Senior Veterinarian in the Emergency & Critical Care Service, the busiest emergency hospital in the metropolitan area,” said Dr. Alejandro Mendez. The Emilia Saint-Amand Krimendahl Institute for Trauma Care at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is the only 24/7 level one trauma center in New York City.
