Small Animal Surgeon

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking an ACVS board-certified surgeon or a residency trained veterinarian to join our experienced surgical team.

Job Responsibilities

The primary job responsibilities include leading a surgical service (soft tissue and orthopedics) that provides primary patient care and clinical training of residents and interns assigned to the surgical service. The applicant will participate in all general surgery service activities, such as meetings, resident seminars, journal club, rounds, and other didactic teaching. The applicant must be committed to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching.

Applicants must have completed a 3-year residency in small animal surgery (or equivalent), be ACVS board-certified or board-eligible and be eligible for licensure to practice as a veterinary professional in New York State.

AMC’s Surgery Team

Our surgical team includes 4 board certified surgeons, one board certified anesthesiologist, and experienced licensed veterinary technicians, assistants, and service coordinators. A brand-new, state-of-the-art surgical suite in currently under construction with an expected open date in 2024.

Technology

Diagnostic imaging services are on site, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging via a 64-slice CT and a 1.5-T MRI. Equipment available includes C-Arm fluoroscopy, endoscopic equipment for arthroscopy, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and much more.

Our hospital hosts a range of board-certified specialists in diverse services including dentistry, dermatology, exotic pet medicine, internal medicine, interventional radiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and rehabilitation and sports medicine. An in-house pathology service with 2 board-certified pathologists performs educational autopsies. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC operates 7-days per week and includes an on-site clinical pathologist. A licensed clinical social worker is also on staff.

Salary Range

$300,000 – $330,000
