Job Summary
Responsible for supporting, planning, and organizing the operations of veterinary technician and patient care services (i.e., Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Nurse Managers, LVTs, Veterinary Assistants, and Clinical Educators in all areas they are assigned). Ensures compliance with patient care safety standards as it relates to AAHA, OSHA, and AMC policy and procedure protocols. Demonstrates experience maximizing productivity in a specialty hospital. Collaborates with senior nurse management and clinical education teams to foster professional growth of LVTs and Assistants.
Essential functions
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the AMC
- Promotes collaboration between LVT and support staff of all hospital departments and services
- Ensures and oversees compliance of all LVTs with DEA rules, regulations, and protocols
- Plans and coordinates with the CFO, CMO, and nurse managers for the budgetary requirements of personnel, supplies, and equipment
- Responsible for cost controls of funds expended from the approved budgets of the nurse managers
- Supports employee recruitment/retention process
- Responsible for the assessment and quality improvement of patient care. Communicates with administration on the activities of patient care services
- Strategic planning of new facility, equipment, and modifications necessary for patient care
- Provides administrative oversight and guidance in education services for the training of LVTs and other clinical support staff
- Collaborates with nurse managers and CMO in problem-solving and policy formation for LVTs and clinical support staff
- Identifies current needs of LVT and Veterinary Assistant staff to maximize well-being and aid in staff retention
Job Responsibilities
- Reports to the CMO and the CEO
- Member of the AMC Senior Management Team
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AVMA CVTEA accredited college/university
- Current NYS LVT licensure
- MBA preferred
- VTS preferred
- Minimum seven years’ experience as an LVT manager within a specialty/referral practice
The eligible candidate must demonstrate strong clinical skills, excellent leadership and managerial qualities, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. They must maintain excellent interpersonal relationships to effectively collaborate and strategize with senior nursing management and clinical education teams. The eligible candidate must possess an advanced knowledge of daily operations within a specialty hospital.
Salary Range
$155,000 – $175,000
